Procedures and Fees

PROCEDURE:
The portrait process begins with a client-artist consultation. The client's desires and concerns about size, medium, dress, formality, pose and background are discussed.

Nancy typically spends 1-2 hours with the subject, depending on the complexity of the portrait. She uses this time to get to know his or her character, gather information on color, do any necessary sketches and photograph the person in a variety of poses and perhaps locations. The genuine expression and gesture of the subject is the result.

Nancy Rose returns to her studio to create the portrait. A color study is prepared. The final portrait is painted on fine portrait linen for oil or the highest quality pastel papers. Portraits are delivered framed to the client for final approval.

Alternatively, sittings may be scheduled for the older child or adult.

As client comments attest, the process of acquiring an heirloom portrait is a rewarding and satisfying experience for client and subjects.

Nancy Rose welcomes all questions.
